Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma and over 40 others have been charged for allegedly violating the COVID-19 tips, police stated on Monday.
Mr Sharma and others have been accused of holding a political assembly at Ghartholi Mohalla on Sunday. They’ve been charged underneath the related sections of the IPC, the Catastrophe Administration Act and the Epidemic Illnesses Act, the stated.
Photographs of the political assembly went viral on social media, the police stated.
Police official Mandeep Salgotra stated that Vicky Rampal, an aide of Ashwani Sharma, had allegedly organised the political assembly at his ward in violation of the COVID-19 tips.
Nonetheless, the chief of the Punjab unit of BJP dubbed the registration of case in opposition to him and social gathering employees a “determined transfer” of the ruling Congress to “muffle the voice of justice”.
In a press release, Mr Sharma stated the BJP employees had been being implicated in “false circumstances” as they had been elevating voice in opposition to the Amarinder Singh authorities over the problems of alleged corruption and liquor mafia within the state.
